Carly Sygrove is a writer and hearing loss blogger, with a background teaching in Early Years education, who lives in Madrid with her partner. In 2016 she experienced a profound sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) in her left ear. Following her hearing loss, Carly was also diagnosed with Meniere’s Disease and vestibular migraine.
She is the founder of the My Hearing Loss Story blog which details her experience of SSNHL and how it affects her life. In April 2021 she launched a new website, Sudden Hearing Loss Support – the first website ever dedicated to providing information and support to people affected by SSNHL.
She manages the My Hearing Loss Story Facebook support group, a place where people with all types of hearing loss are invited to share their stories, ask questions, and offer each other support. She also writes articles for hearing loss charities and organisations about the hearing loss experience.
